Case of Sheri Lynn Muhleman Reopened
Fremont, Ca police stated on Wednesday that their Crimes Against Persons unit is now actively investigating the case of a woman who went missing in Northern California in 1989.
Sheri Lynn Muhleman went missing on February 27th, 1989, from Fremont, California. At the time of her disappearance, she was living with her boyfriend, Michael Abraham, and their five-year-old daughter. According to Michael Abraham and his sister, Catherine, Muhleman was last seen packing up her personal belongings inside Abraham’s house on Decoto Road. She then left his house that morning at 9:30am.
Investigators said witnesses indicated that Abraham was concerned about Muhleman taking care of their daughter and his house while he was gone on an Alameda-County-sponsored work furlough program. Police also stated that due to physical evidence at the house on Decoto Road, and recent witness statements, they believe Muhleman to be the victim of homicide. Her body has never been found.
That house has since been town down. A Mormon church now sits on the lot on Decoto Road.
“About six months ago, we got a couple contacts from people who really wanted to get some things off their chest,” Detective Jacob Blass of the Fremont police told ABC 7.
'That happens a lot especially with 20, 30-year-old cold cases where people are like, ‘You know what, either I'm getting older, I'm getting sick,’ or you know, ‘I think I should've come forward at the time but I was just too scared.’”
Fremont police are encouraging anyone with any information, even if it seems insignificant, to contact police. In cold cases such as this, any information could prove to be the missing link to solving open cases. Anyone with information should contact Detective Jacob Blass at (510) 790-6963.
