Montara Beach Mystery

The search for a young man missing in the Half Moon Bay area intensified June 30th when someone walking along Montara Beach saw a AAA auto card buried partly in the sand. It belongs to 22-year-old Richard Moss.

Friends of Moss say they’ve seen security video of Moss driving his blue Hyundai Tiburon in the drive-through lane at a McDonald’s restaurant off Highway One on the morning of May 25. They say they’ve seen video taken minutes later of Moss driving through the Devil’s Slide Tunnel, his usual way to work.

But that was the last known image of Moss. He never made it to work, and hasn’t been seen since.

The San Mateo County Sheriff’s Department has searched by air and on foot, to no avail. According to KTVU, Moss’s friends wonder whether Moss drove off Highway One or possibly over the steep cliffs.

If you have any information in regards to Richard Moss’s whereabouts, please contact Detective Carroll at the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office at 650-259-2313 immediately.

If you wish to remain anonymous with your information, call the California Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
